Exporting references from OTseeker and importing them into a reference management system
Users of OTseeker are now able to export search results from OTseeker to a file that can be imported into personal reference management systems such as EndNote, Reference Manager, Procite, or Refworks. The full details of the study (including any internal validity rating that has been done for RCTs) will be exported.
To export references, follow the instructions below:
- Perform a search on OTseeker.
- To export information from an individual study:
- Click on ‘Export Reference’ at the bottom of the citation.
- This will open a window asking you to either save or open a file. The information in this notepad file is in a tagged text format. Save this file to your computer.
- Then import the saved text file into your reference management system (eg Endnote) using reference manager (RIS) as the filter.
- To export information from multiple studies:
- Select the articles that you wish to export to a reference management system (The maximum you can export each time is 20).
- Select ‘View Selected In Full Detail’ at the bottom of the page
- This will open up the Detailed Results page showing the information for each study. At the bottom of this Detailed Search Results page Click on ‘Export Reference’
- This will open a window asking you to either save or open a file. The information in this notepad file is in a tagged text format. Save this file to your computer.
- Then import the saved text file into your reference management system (eg Endnote) using reference manager (RIS) as the filter.

Emailing Results: You can also email the results of your searches to yourself or to others but this is not in a format that can be imported into Reference Management systems.
